Ethical Compass Community Manifesto

We believe in building a community where trust, respect, and responsibility guide every interaction.

Our foundation is a reference-based network — each member connects through trusted relationships, creating a web of accountability and care. Every person is responsible not only for themselves but also for those they bring into the community.

We embrace a horizontal structure, without hierarchy, where respect flows through mutual responsibility. If challenges arise, the person who referred someone steps up to support and guide, ensuring everyone is accountable.

Our community thrives on ethical awareness, shaped by our “Ethical Compass” — eight core principles that foster kindness, fairness, empathy, and inclusivity. These principles guide us to communicate without violence, promote justice, protect rights, nurture understanding, and encourage good intentions.

Every member begins with 23 points, symbolizing our commitment to integrity and growth. Points are gently deducted when behaviors contradict our values, as identified by our Ethical Compass. Falling below zero leads to a temporary pause, but we believe in second chances: through a trusted referral and renewed commitment, anyone can rejoin and grow again.

We see this not as punishment, but as an opportunity for reflection, learning, and continuous improvement — making our community stronger, safer, and more supportive every day.

Together, we build a space where every voice matters, every action counts, and every person belongs.

Our Guiding Principles and Community Framework

To live by our Ethical Compass, we have established clear principles and a supportive structure that keeps our community healthy, fair, and accountable.

The Ethical Compass

The Ethical Compass consists of eight distinct guardian roles that anonymously and continuously review content within our support forums. Each role examines communication through its unique lens, ensuring quality, justice, and the well-being of the community:

  • Nonviolent Communication Ambassador: Watches for harmful or aggressive language.

  • Justice Observer: Ensures fairness and equal treatment for all parties.

  • Living Rights Advocate: Protects the rights and dignity of all living beings.

  • Empathy Developer: Analyzes whether members truly understand and empathize with each other.

  • Solution-Focused Guide: Checks if conversations are constructive and goal-oriented.

  • Freedom of Expression Protector: Monitors if everyone can express themselves freely and safely.

  • Gender Equality Watcher: Detects gender biases or inequalities.

  • Goodwill and Intent Moderator: Assesses the sincerity and positive intent behind messages.

This system encourages healthier, more constructive, and more inclusive interactions for all members.

Reference System and Horizontal Responsibility

Our community thrives on a trust-based reference network. To join, every member must be referred by someone already in the community and may refer up to seven others. This web creates mutual responsibility.

While we reject hierarchical ranks, the person who refers someone is accountable for their ethical and behavioral conduct. When issues arise, this referrer acts as the first point of contact and support.

If a member removes a referred individual from the community, all users they have referred are also removed, emphasizing collective accountability.

This structure fosters trust, responsibility, and a strong sense of belonging.

Potential Challenges We Watch For

We vigilantly guard against:

  • Discrimination (gender, ethnicity, age, religion, language, disability, etc.)

  • Violent speech (physical, psychological, symbolic)

  • Reproduction of gender stereotypes and biases

  • Lack of empathy

  • Abuse of power or authority

  • Silencing and exclusion of dissenting voices

  • Excessive individualism ignoring community welfare

  • Gender inequality

  • Violations of animal and environmental rights

  • Hate speech and microaggressions

  • Coercive, passive-aggressive, or sarcastic language

  • Sabotaging constructive solutions

  • Undermining freedom of expression

  • Disrespect towards community roles

  • Dismissing requests for help

  • Othering or exclusionary language

  • Devaluing invisible labor

  • Destructive criticism disguised as feedback

  • Neglecting referral responsibilities

  • Exploiting system weaknesses unethically

  • Misusing goodwill and positive intent

  • Triggering trauma

  • Superficiality and evasion of serious topics

The 23-Point Ethical Score System

Every member begins with 23 points reflecting our shared commitment to ethics and growth.

  • When our AI-powered Ethical Compass flags behavior violating our principles, 1 point is deducted per warning.

  • A score of 0 triggers a temporary pause from active participation.

  • A score of -1 results in removal from the community.

  • Removed members can rejoin only through referral from another trusted member, restarting with a score of 5.

  • Both AI and human moderators collaborate continuously to support members’ ethical development.

Through this transparent and fair system, we promote continuous learning, responsibility, and the flourishing of a kind, just, and vibrant community.
